Technology for everyone (Preschool to Grade 8)

At Corpus Christi School our students begin computer skill instruction at an early age so they can utilize the latest technology for problem solving and critical thinking skills as they enter into the world of robotics, scientific exploration, art graphics and engineering by design.

STEM Learning

STEM education is an integrated approach to teaching and learning. Problem-based experiences occur both in and out of the classroom, so that students develop the basic skills and attitudes necessary to apply mathematical and scientific principles to the solution of real-world problems.

We utilize more than thirty desktop computers in the STEM Center, 5 mobile carts that house over 30+ iPads and 30+ Windows tablets.  Every classroom has an Interactive SMART board.  The entire school, preschool to grade 8 participate in the “Hour of Code” during Computer Science week.

Grades Kindergarten through Grade 8 receive “G Suite for Education” Accounts.  Grades 4 through grade 8 have electronic mail.  Grades fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade receive Chromebooks for the school year.  We have 6 Wonder Dot and 8 Dash Robots for the elementary school, with Amazon Kindles and Wonder Apps for the children to code the robots.

Digital Learning

Lexia Reading Core5® is a tool utilized at Corpus Christi school to support teachers in advancing literacy instruction and aid students in literacy instruction.

IXL is the world's most popular subscription-based learning site. Grades Kindergarten through 8 utilize the IXL Math for unlimited practice in math topics.  While the middle school students have subscriptions to the 4500 math and English topics. Interactive questions, awards, and certificates keep kids motivated as they master skills.

Corpus Christi School has five new LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Robotics kits for our middle school.  The LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Robotics Kit contains close to twenty different robots that can be built.  The mobile device apps allow the students to bring their robots to life.  The LEGO® MINDSTORMS® is utilized by middle schools, high schools, and even colleges around the world.

Students are provided an opportunity to engage in well-defined cross-curricular projects.  These projects include in-depth research and writing presentations, robotics design, video production, musical production, and art graphic products.

Students become proficient in:

  • Presenting, tabulating, and explaining data
  • Researching topics using credible world wide web resources
  • Accurately and efficiently typing research and a knowledge of proper presentation formatting
  • Coding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving Skills
  • Keyboarding Skills
  • Hardware engineering and software implementation concepts
  • Developing the ability to problem-solve, think critically and communicate using technology

Digital Safety

With the many recent advances in technology, digital safety is a topic weighing heavily on the minds of parents today. We are committed to educating our students regarding the many responsibilities that come with technology and the numerous modes of communication available to us today. At. Corpus Christi School, we have incorporated Technology Use Agreements, host educational assemblies for students and parents, as well as provide resources for parents and teachers.  The IT Coordinator partners with the local police department to educate and prevent cyberbullying.

The current technology is only the beginning for opening up the computer science minds at Corpus Christi School, we are energized with this futuristic learning for our students.
